Construction is nearing completion on the Pendry Manhattan West Hotel, a 281-foot-tall hotel at Four Manhattan West in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield Properties, the 21-story building is just one of five buildings in the Manhattan West master plan, which sits directly across Tenth Avenue from Hudson Yards. The Pendry Manhattan West Hotel will provide a total of 164 guest rooms and a selection of condominiums on the upper levels.
Exterior work is complete with the exception of two sections. One is where the exterior hoist on the western elevation is still attached. This will likely be disassembled later this summer once work wraps up on the interiors. The second is the rectangular enclosure for mechanical equipment on the top of the building, set back from the signature wavy façade. This section is still enveloped in yellow insulation boards and waterproofing.
The undulating curtain wall on the main northern profile creates an interesting play of light and shadow, with deep blue tones and bright reflections along the concaving troughs.
A series of opaque ribbon panels wrap around the structure, giving it an added layer to depth and texture.
The unfinished mechanical section can be seen in the middle of the photograph below through the cranes that are assembling the nearby Two Manhattan West.
The rest of the edifice appears externally finished with the additional exceptions of the ground floor on the northern side of the superstructure and the back side to the south, which will eventually open up to a public plaza and connect to the other four addresses in the Manhattan West complex. Of all the new projects that have recently risen or been renovated in this rapidly expanding section of Manhattan, the Pendry Manhattan West Hotel offers the most unique and visually captivating appearance with its lively glass façade. The closest subways from the property are the 7 train to the west between Tenth and Eleventh Avenue at Hudson Yards, and the A, C, E, New Jersey Transit, and Amtrak trains to the east at Pennsylvania Station.
The Pendry Manhattan West Hotel is still expected to open in 2021.

The Pendry Manhattan West Hotel is an absolutely beautiful building. The wavy facade looks like the gentle waves of the Hudson River, or something like that.
