Construction is now several stories above ground at 601 West 29th Street, a 695-foot-tall residential skyscraper on the border of West Chelsea and Hudson Yards. Also known as Tower A, the 58-story structure is designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Douglaston Development.
Recent photos show the state of work at the site, which is bound by Eleventh Avenue and West Street, and West 29th Street and West 30th Street. The eastern end of the structure is decked out with wooden formwork aiding in the formation of the concrete columns, walls, and floor slabs. The lower podium section that extends westwards along West 29th Street looks to be mostly finished. Meanwhile, a construction crane positioned by the corner of West 29th Street and Eleventh Avenue will help to assemble the L-shaped tower.

FXCollaborative’s design will become the tallest superstructure to rise to the west of Related Companies’ first phase of Hudson Yards, if only temporarily. No recent official renderings have been revealed for the second phase, which is planned to be built across West 30th Street. Nonetheless, the continuation of the development will eventually transform this area between Chelsea and Hudson Yards, extending the vertical density of the skyline toward West Street and the Hudson River. The closest subway is the 7 train, located to the northeast across the plaza of Hudson Yards between 50 and 55 Hudson Yards.
601 West 29th Street is slated for completion in September 2023, as noted on the construction fence.
