Permits have been filed for a four-story community facility building at 199 East 135th Street in Mott Haven, The Bronx. Located at the corner of Park Avenue and East 135th Street, the site is within walking distance of the 138th Street subway station, serviced by the 4 train. Evelyn Hey, principal of South Bronx Charter School For International Cultures & the Arts, is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 68-foot-tall development will yield 76,486 square feet designated for community facility space. The building will house the South Bronx Charter School for International Cultures and the Art, although it’s not clear if the facility will be for elementary or middle school levels. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar, mezzanine, and a 20-foot-long rear yard. The proposed entry will be at 2500 Park Avenue.
Stephen Grasso of Partners for Architecture is listed as the architect of record. The design agency is responsible for the charter school’s five-story K-5 school building at 164 Bruckner Boulevard.
Demolition permits have not been filed yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

That will be absolutely wonderful if “Sin City” is replaces by a charter school. Something that was a community negative becoming a community positive.
