Construction is nearing completion on The Dime, a 22-story mixed-use building at 209 Havemeyer Street in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Alternately addressed as 275 South 5th Street, the structure is designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture and is being developed by Charney Companies and Tavros Holdings. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing is handling all leasing for the 177 rental units, which launched in May. Grain Collective is the landscape architect and 1 Oak Contracting is the general contractor for the project.
Recent photos show the nearly finished look of the façade, which is composed of white sculpted terracotta panels and glass with black mullions. Only a few minor touches remain on the podium and on the eastern side of the tower, where the exterior hoist is still attached. Renovations have also yet to begin on the historic Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh. The structure’s use of the rounded corners, floor-to-ceiling glass, subtle envelope details, and its prominent height make it stand out from the surrounding neighborhood. The building has both a commercial and residential lobby on South 5th Street, with a Tom Fruin art piece recently installed in the latter component.

Units will feature white Caesarstone kitchen countertops, glossy gray subway tile backsplashes, cream-colored cabinetry, and furnished appliances throughout. The two penthouses come with their own private wraparound terraces that overlook Williamsburg, the Williamsburg Bridge directly to the west, and the Manhattan skyline. The lack of any tall buildings in the vicinity gives residents abundant natural light exposure. Prices range from around $3,000 per month for studios to more than $7,000 per month for three-bedroom apartments, while penthouses will cost $13,000 a month. There will be separate lobbies for residents and commercial tenants. Amenities will occupy the entire fifth floor and include a community garden, a yoga studio, a cooking area with grills, multiple dining tables, a manicured lawn, a lounge with ample seating, communal work spaces, a half basketball court, and a fitness center programmed by The Wright Fit.

Honestly, I think The Dime is a beautifully executed project that will for sure mark a positive presence in the South Williamsburg neighborhood. This is absolute perfection.
