Permits have been filed for a four-story monastery at 54-17 90th Street in Elmhurst, Queens. Located at the intersection of 90th Street and 55th Avenue, the corner lot is closest to the Grand Avenue-Newtown subway station, serviced by the E, M, and R trains. The Roman Catholic Congregation of St. John The Baptist of China is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 40-foot-tall development will yield 10,000 square feet, with 9,973 square feet designated for community facility space. Construction of the building will include a fence around the property. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar and a 24-foot-long side yard, but no accessory parking.
