Permits have been filed for a 13-story hotel building at 62 Mulberry Street in Chinatown, Manhattan. Located between Mosco Street and Bayard Street, the interior lot faces Columbus Park. It is a five-minute walk northwest to the Canal Street subway station, serviced by the J and Z trains. McSam Hotel Group under the Chinatown Hotel LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 132-foot-tall development will yield 34,374 square feet, with 28,853 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 103 rooms, most likely condos, with an average unit scope of 280 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 24-foot-long rear yard.

Gene Kaufman Architect is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits have not been filed yet for the six-story parking garage on the property. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Don’t do it tough, these details go along with AHB: A Hotel Building: Hello New York YIMBY.

  2. Oh boy, I can’t wait for what Gene Kaufman will bring us now…

  3. “…13-story hotel building…with 28,853 square feet designated for residential space…103 rooms, most likely condos, with an average unit scope of 280 square feet…”

Am I missing something? How does any of that make sense?

  4. YIMBY time to get NIMBY with McSam group. Their product blights NYC. Look what was left in their wake in midtown…too many rooms for tourists, McSam hotels have become homeless shelters. As real estate values drop around manhattan, Mr Chang will continues to grab up properties and have Gene Kaufman ‘value engineer’ the life out of any block/neighborhood they take root in. As a team, Chang & Kaufman are the brick & mortar equivalent of kudzu.
