Dual-Brand Marriott Wraps Construction at 140 West 28th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Work is wrapping up on 140 West 28th Street, a 46-story dual-brand Marriott Hotel tower in Chelsea. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sam Chang of the McSam Hotel Group, the 470-foot-tall tower will yield 531 guest rooms split between Springhill Suites by Marriott and Townplace Suites by Marriott Properties. Omnibuild is the general contractor for the 173,000-square-foot reinforced concrete edifice, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues in the Flower District.

1,046-Room Hilton Tower Nears Completion at 150 West 48th Street in Times Square, Manhattan

Façade work is rapidly progressing on the recently topped-out 150 West 48th Street, a 418-foot-tall, 38-story triple-brand Hilton hotel tower in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group, the 320,000-square-foot structure will yield 1,046 hotel rooms with a Hampton Inn, a Home 2 Suites, and a Motto Hotel, Hilton’s newest brand of micro-hotels. McSam Hotel Group purchased the Midtown, Manhattan site from Rockefeller Group in early 2019 for $140 million, and also received a $250 loan before construction broke ground last year. Omnibuild is in charge of erecting the tower, which is located by the corner of West 48th Street and Seventh Avenue.

Façade installation is progressing on 223 West 46th Street, a 20-story Marriott SpringHill hotel in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by McSam Hotel Group, the project will yield 70,000 square feet and 200 guest rooms. The property is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues and is a short walk from the pedestrian plazas and retail stores that line Times Square’s iconic intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. Construction is continuing to rise on 150 West 48th Street, a 330-foot tall, 38-story Hilton hotel in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group, the 320,000-square-foot structure will yield 1,048 hotel rooms, up from the previous reported count of 974, making it the ninth-largest hotel in New York City. McSam Hotel Group purchased the site from Rockefeller Group in early 2019 for $140 million, and received a $250 million construction loan before work broke ground in 2020. Omnibuild is in charge of constructing the hotel.
