The affordable housing lottery has launched for 140 West Fordham Road, a seven-story residential building in University Heights, The Bronx. Designed by Marin Architects and developed by Stagg Group, the structure yields 54 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 18 units for residents at 120 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $56,572 to $154,680.
Residents will have access to a wide range of amenities including pet-friendly policies, a shared laundry room, gym, recreation room, security cameras, an elevator, and assigned parking spaces. Units have Energy Star appliance, open kitchen layouts, and hardwood floors.

At 120 percent of the AMI, there are two studios with a monthly rent of $1,650 for incomes ranging from $56,572 to $114,600; 14 one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $1,750 for incomes ranging from $60,000 to $128,880; and two two-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $2,000 for incomes ranging from $68,572 to $154,680.
Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than January 5, 2021.

The true Bait and switch is that this isn’t affordable housing but income linked housing. This isn’t truly affordable to the poor.

Every last one of them; unless they are in some high-crime, “ghetto” neighborhood in the 5-boroughs. If most people are making less than $50k a year, how can these be called affordable??? The owners of the various developments are “lying” to the “People” of lower incomes who need it the most!
