Demolition permits have been filed for two single-story commercial buildings at 53-55 Avenue D in Manhattan’s East Village. The 5,054-square-foot lot is owned by Manny Ashourzadeh under the Rash LLC.
Located at the southwest corner of the Avenue D and East 5th Street intersection, the site has 64 feet of street frontage. YIMBY previously reported on a proposed 13-story, 62,200-square-foot mixed-use building with affordable housing coming to the alternate 746 East 5th Street address. Designed by Gerald Caliendo Architects, the upcoming 125-foot-tall development will yield 62,200 square feet designated for 85 residences, with 15 units allocated to inclusionary housing.
53-55 Avenue D is near the Delancey Street-Essex Street subway station, serviced by the F, J, M, and Z trains.
AA BLDG & INSP SVC LLC is listed as the applicant of record.
