Construction is complete on 155 West 29th Street, an 18-story Public Storage facility in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Mancini Duffy Architects and developed by The Davis Companies along with joint venture partner Highland Development Ventures, the 180,000-square-foot structure contains 6,000 storage units. Cauldwell Wingate was the contractor for the project, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.
The façade closely resembles initial renderings that showed simple gray paneling, a series of small setback levels as the building rises, company signage, and red accents above the ground floor.
“We are pleased to continue the expansion of our portfolio in New York City and to provide residents, commuters, and businesses with a high-quality, affordable option for self-storage space,” said David Allen, senior vice president of asset management. “Developed with the neighborhood in mind, this facility is a leader in sustainability and has been thoughtfully designed to provide the most seamless, user-friendly experience.”
Described as a Class A storage facility, the building and its storage unit feature keyless electronic locks, motion sensor lighting, drive-in loading access, and smart climate controls.
Construction broke ground in January 2022.

When a storage warehouse is more respectful of the existing street wall/setback heights than 99% of the new hotels in the city, it might be time to update the zoning code. Just saying.
