Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building at 211-13 26th Avenue in Bayside, Queens. Located between Bell Boulevard and Corporal Kennedy Street, the lot is closest to the Main Street subway station, serviced by the 7 train. Kathleen Marchiella under the Cord Meyer Development LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 40-foot-tall development will yield 87,901 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 103 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 853 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar, a 30-foot-long rear yard, and 133 enclosed parking spaces.
Studio V Architecture is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits have not been filed yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

This seems to be a major part of the Bay Terrace Shopping Center that includes restaurants, shops, and a multiplex movie theater. There are very much taller apartments just to the west and it seems one of the oddities on NYC zoning that this could not be larger.
Residents of this area often do not use the subway in Flushing owing to the half-hour journey by bus. They rely on the LIRR at Bayside and express buses.

This is one of the Dumbest things I have ever heard of. Who will want to move in there with businesses all over? Not to mention Parking will be a nightmare. The spots in the shopping center are for people shopping there, not LIVING there. And saying this is for the Subway is insane as You have to take a long bus ride to get to where the Subway is in Flushing. Just another Landlord looking to make a buck.

The building is going to have 130 enclosed parking spots, per the article. Parking for residents would not be a “nightmare.” That section of the mall has very light parking spot occupancy, with surges during movie show times, due to the AMC theater that is currently there. That theater will be gone when the building is put up.
I agree, describing the 7-train as “the closest subway,” is ridiculous. This neighborhood is a bus-only transit desert…but the residents like it that way.
This is a picture of the upper level of the Bat Terrace shopping center. It is NO where near the subway station or the bus stops. This is what will happen with Adams “City of yes”
That’s why any of us not old enough to be in diapers are all for this and any new housing. Stop killing our American Dream you NIMBY Boomers!!!!!
