Construction is nearing completion on The Victoria and Lloyd Goldman Health Care Pavilion, a 15-story medical building for Lenox Hill Hospital at 1345 Third Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Ennead Architects and developed by Northwell Health and the University Financing Foundation, the 215-foot-tall structure will span 200,000 square feet. The $450 million facility will contain outpatient treatment space for specialized cancer care services, imaging and lab testing, cardiac care, neuroscience programs, a sleep study center, acute and chronic disease management, social work services, and more. The property is located in Lenox Hill between East 76th and 77th Streets.
The hoist was dismantled from the broad western elevation since our last update in March, and most of the ensuing gap has been filled in. Scaffolding still remains around the lower levels and the ground floor is obscured by the sidewalk shed, but both will likely be removed in the coming months as exterior work draws to a close. Interiors should be well underway at this point.
The main rendering and below street-level image preview the base looking south along Third Avenue. Both images show tall columns enclosed in bright bronze paneling framing the ground-floor glass and ventilation grilles. However, based on the finished appearance of the cladding on the lot line walls, these elements will likely have a much darker bronze appearance. A large canopy will hang above the main entrance and new trees will line the sidewalks.
The property was formerly occupied by a row of low-rise buildings between East 76th and East 77th Streets, as seen in the following Google Street View image from before demolition prep began in the spring of 2019. The site sat vacant for some time following the structures’ razing before excavation began mid-2023.
The Victoria and Lloyd Goldman Health Care Pavilion will offer care for numerous cancer types including breast, gastrointestinal, colorectal, gynecologic oncology, head and neck, and thoracic. During construction, surgery and inpatient care in Manhattan is being provided by other affiliated hospitals, including the neighboring Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital at 210 East 64th Street.
The nearest subway from the ground-up development is the local 6 train at the 77th Street station to the west along Lexington Avenue.
1345 Third Avenue’s anticipated completion date is slated for the spring of 2026, as noted on site.

Is this in addition to the new hospital planned?
Bit of a cluster design wise. Seems like there were some interesting walltype ideas but it all got busy and messy along the way
This is primarily for outpatient services and is in addition to the planned hospital
There seems to be a trend of moving outpatient services out of acute hospitals. Our local NYPH has opened facilities in downtown Flushing and Fresh Meadows.
This building looks institutional in a nice way. It reminds me a bit of the UN Secretariat.
The UN Secretariat is a masterpiece, this, not so much..
Why are ventilation grilles always placed so low? Wouldn’t the air be fresher if it were taken in at the top?
Those are exhaust grills most likely
This looks like 1965. That’s not a compliment.
Looks very 80s. Hope its medical professionals (docs, nurses, social workers, therapists, med techs etc) are all merit based / up to date vetted.
Seriously?
