Alloy and Monadnock Development’s One John Street condos are rising quickly along the Dumbo waterfront in Brooklyn Bridge Park, already reaching 10 stories, after rising out of the ground only earlier this year.
The development will eventually stand 12 stories and hold 42 units ranging from two- to four-bedrooms. These condos are some of the most expensive in Brooklyn, with asking prices starting at $3,600,000 and going all the way up to $8,800,000 for a 3,600-square-foot penthouse, or $2,400 per square foot. When it’s finished, the building will have 117,648 square feet of residential space, a 2,500-square-foot community facility, and 3,000 square feet of ground floor retail.

Apartments will begin on the second floor, with four units per floor until the 11th and 12th stories, which will have three single floor units and three duplexes between them. The top floor will include a penthouse and a landscaped roof terrace with cabanas. The building, which aims to be LEED Gold-certified, will also have a gym and bike storage.
The retailers haven’t been announced yet, but the Brooklyn Children’s Museum plans to use the community space as a Dumbo annex of their 40-year-old Crown Heights location.

Architect Jared Della Valle heads Alloy, which is both designing and co-developing the project. Construction began last fall and is expected to finish sometime next year.
Meanwhile Pierhouse, the combination hotel/condo development rising at the southern end of the park, is mired in legal battles that threaten to stop construction entirely. But a separate court case over Pier 6, just south of Pierhouse, was finally settled last week. Two partially affordable towers containing 430 apartments will hopefully rise on the unused bit of parkland near Joralemon Street, according to the Daily News.
