The controversial redevelopment of Bushwick’s Rheingold Brewery has attracted plenty of press in recent months, but the another huge brewery complex across the street is about to get a new lease on life. A group of investors paid $33.7 million for the former Schlitz bottling plant at 95 Evergreen Avenue in January, and now they’ve released renderings of its future as offices and retail.

The five-story, 160,000-square-foot building will get an updated facade, windows, roof, generator, elevators, electric and plumbing systems, fire alarms, sprinklers, and HVAC systems. The new owners are also putting in a new roof deck and custom light fixture crafted out of 10,000 Schlitz bottles in the lobby.
The developers intend to keep the building’s 15 to 30-foot ceilings and floor plates as large as 37,500 square feet.
Hornig Capital Partners and Savanna are developing the project.
Fogarty Finger is designing the renovation, which is expected to cost $30 million. Alteration permits for the renovation have been filed with the Department of Buildings, but not yet approved. Work has already started and is expected to wrap by the second quarter of 2016.
