Developers, City Officials Celebrate Opening of Caton Flats at 800 Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn

New York City mayor Eric Adams kicked off a weekend-long grand opening celebration for Caton Flats, a new mixed-use development with 255 affordable homes, a revitalized and expanded Flatbush Central Caribbean Marketplace, and 20,000 square feet of community space. Located at 800 Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn, the development team includes BRP Companies, Urbane, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

Affordable Housing Lottery Launches for 254 Units at Caton Flats in Flatbush, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Caton Flats, a 14-story mixed-use residential building at 800 Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Designed by Magnusson Architecture And Planning and developed through a partnership between BRP Companies, Housing Preservation and Development, the Housing Development Corporation, and the Caribbean-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the structure will also yield 5,000 square feet of supplemental community space owned and operated by the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry and 10,000 square feet of local retail. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 254 units for residents at 40 to 165 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $21,635 to $244,200.

Construction has topped out at Caton Flats, a 14-story residential tower in Flatbush, Brooklyn. The structure is located at 800 Flatbush Avenue and will eventually support a community of 255 affordable housing units and revitalize the long-running Flatbush Caton Market with 16,000 square feet of new space for a Caribbean marketplace and an economic development incubator.

Construction Progresses on Caton Flats at 800 Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn

Construction is around two-thirds of the way to the parapet at 800 Flatbush Avenue, aka Caton Flats, in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Work has moved along rapidly on the 255-unit affordable housing complex since construction began in May of 2019. The mixed-use development will also house the Flatbush-Caton Market, which originally occupied the site and is temporarily operating a few blocks south at 2184 Clarendon Road. The project is designed by Magnusson Architecture and Planning and developed by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the Housing Development Corporation, the Caribbean-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the BRP Companies.
