LPC To Review Proposal For Renovation Of Verdi Square on Manhattan’s Upper West Side
A proposal to improve accessibility and infrastructure at Verdi Square on Manhattan’s Upper West Side is set to be presented to the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) on February 11. The 0.1-acre park is located on a trapezoidal traffic island bounded by 72nd Street on the south, 73rd Street on the north, Broadway on the west, and Amsterdam Avenue on the east. The project, designed by Cameron Engineering, has a total budget of $873,000 and was funded by the mayor’s office. The primary goals of the project include the installation of an asphalt path to create an accessible route within the square, upgrades to the water service, and the installation of a Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) back flow device for improved water management.
