The building, located in the heart of the Financial District, has made incredible progress, with the façade now complete save for windows connected to the exterior hoist. Midtown Manhattan’s New Supertalls As Seen From 252 East 57th Street’s Penthouse

Earlier last week, YIMBY got the opportunity to see the mountainous Midtown neighborhood, the rising towers in Queens, and the Upper East Side from the penthouse of 252 East 57th Street. The full-floor apartment had two terraces on the Northwest and Southeast edges of the building, from which we were given an eye-to-eye look at several high-rises on the rise.

New York YIMBY’s 2018 Construction Report: New Building Applications Finally Stabilize After Two Years of Massive Drops

Last year, YIMBY’s pipeline report showed a dramatic decrease in new building filings, with 2015’s multi-family count of 32,702 units falling precipitously, to 19,356 in 2016. Fortunately, the hemorrhaging of pipeline additions has nearly come to a complete stop, and 2017 saw filings for 19,180 multi-family units, a drop of under one percent. Soon-To-Be Supertall 35 Hudson Yards Passes Halfway Point In Rise

Supertall office towers are nearing a dime a dozen in Hudson Yards, with 30 Hudson Yards already passing the 984-foot mark, and 1 Manhattan West, The Spiral, and 50 Hudson Yards set to eclipse it over the next few years. While most of the neighborhood’s residential towers have been a few steps behind their larger companions along 57th Street, the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-designed 35 Hudson Yards will be the first to pass the threshold. Now, the building has passed the halfway mark, and as its exterior installation has also progressed, the future icon is quickly gaining prominence on the Midtown West skyline.

Extell’s Central Park Tower Gets Fresh Renderings, Nears Halfway Point at 217 West 57th Street

The last time YIMBY checked on progress at Extell’s Central Park Tower, rising at 217 West 57th Street, glass installation had just begun, and the building was several floors above its cantilever. Three months later, the supertall’s superstructure is pushing towards its halfway point, and stands over 700 feet above the streets below. New renderings for the project have also appeared alongside its partially-launched website, giving a better idea of interiors, as well as the nighttime lighting scheme.
