Permits have been filed for a six-story apartment building at 535 East 12th Street in the East Village, Manhattan. Located between Avenues A and B, the interior lot is three city blocks from the 1st Avenue subway station, serviced by the L train. New York City’s Housing Preservation and Development is listed as the owner behind the applications. In December 2018, the site sought status as an Urban Development Action Area Project. Previous tenants had to vacate their residences in 2008 due to deteriorating structural conditions and have been displaced since.
The exterior curtain wall at 180 East 88th Street is making substantial progress as it swiftly encloses the 31-story reinforced concrete structure. The tower is now the tallest skyscraper on the Upper East Side above 72nd Street, with design by DDG. HTO Architects is serving as the architect of record, and Petersen Tegl, a Denmark-based firm, is in charge of the Kolumba masonry brick facade. The property will yield around 130,000 square feet of residential space when complete, averaging over 2,700 square feet per unit. There will be 52,000 square feet of communal facilities on the lower floors, and the remaining 1,100 square feet will be dedicated to commercial use.
The facade work is progressing quickly on the upcoming 22-story Hyatt Centric Hotel at 16 East 39th Street, located near Bryant Park in Midtown. The reinforced concrete structure, which topped out back in January, will include 162 short-stay rooms, a restaurant and lounges on the ground floor, an appointed rooftop, and a rear courtyard. The new 244-foot-tall building will yield 77,858 square feet. Gene Kaufman Architect is the designer of the project.
City officials have approved plans submitted by Slate Property Group to construct a new mixed-use skyscraper in Downtown Brooklyn. Located at 570 Fulton Street, the structure is designed by Hill West Architects and will contain a combination of market-rate apartments, affordable housing, and office space.
Permits were filed for a new four-story residential building at 144 Bleecker Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Simon Kaufman of YS Realty is listed as the owner on the permits, and Diego B. Aguilera of Diego Aguilera Architects is responsible for the design. The site is located between Wilson and Central Avenues. The lot measures 7,982 square feet and sits next to St. Barbara’s Roman Catholic Church. The closest subway train is the M at the Knickerbocker Avenue/Myrtle Avenue station. The J train can be found to the south along Broadway.
