The building stands out among the surrounding blocks. Rafael Vinoly’s 277 Fifth Avenue Nearing Finish Line in NoMad

With the elevator coming down from 277 Fifth Avenue‘s western frontage over the past several weeks, the final form of the building’s exterior, comprised of dark panels, vertical window strips, and open-air terraces, is almost fully visible. Designed by Rafael Vinoly, developed by Victor Group and Lendlease, and marketed by Corcoran, the 52-story residential tower stands 728 feet atop NoMad, and is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the area.

New York YIMBY’s 2019 Construction Report Shows Impressive 70% Year-Over-Year Surge in Multi-Family Housing Filings

Once again, January has arrived, alongside New York YIMBY’s annual pipeline report. After our mid-2018 update portended a banner year for new construction, the 2019 report has confirmed it, as the total number of multi-family units filed with the Department of Buildings saw a tremendous surge over the past 365 days. 2018 saw 32,580 multi-family units filed with the DOB, beating 2017’s total of 19,180 units by a whopping 70%. Designed using the same architectural language, the second tower’s twisting profile will compliment its larger sibling directly to the west. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, developed by HFZ Capital, and built by Omnibuild, the XI is located at 76 11th Avenue and is one of the newest additions to come to Chelsea’s High Line corridor.
