The Top of the Rock is one of the best observation decks in New York City, offering sweeping vistas of Manhattan and beyond. What’s most apparent from the following photos is the rise of Downtown Manhattan once more, as the new World Trade Center boosts the Lower Manhattan skyline to prominence once again.
Most unexpected is the impact the Bank of America Tower has from the Top of the Rock, as its roof is ‘only’ 945′ in height. The building’s height and girth are lost from street level, but become quite apparent once you’re up in the sky.
The last photo shows the new Hyatt Times Square, if you look closely. The hotel is nearing completion, and it shows just how impressive New York is that a 600 foot building can rise without making any impression on the skyline. If it weren’t in the center of the picture, finding it would almost be like playing ‘Where’s Waldo?’
