Plans for the re-development of 124 West 16th Street have seen a change, as Einhorn Development Group acquired additional air rights from the adjacent French Evangelical Church. The initial filings for a 6-story structure have thus been altered; the new building will stand eleven floors tall, and — capping off the defining trend of 2013 — it will cantilever over the church next door.
Permits for the development have not been fully updated; while an amendment to the new building document was issued, it appears that the file has not been changed on the Department of Buildings website. DHD is listed as the architect, and apparently all filings have been approved, so construction is likely imminent.
124 West 16th Street will have fourteen apartments in all, with five full-floor units and a penthouse spanning the eleventh and ‘penthouse’ levels of the building, per the Schedule A. The development will fit into the ’boutique luxury’ segment of the market, and its neighborhood is stellar; pricing will likely be very high, considering the lack of inventory in the surrounding area.
No renderings have been released, but workers have been active on-site for months; completion is likely in 2015.
