United American Land is currently redeveloping three buildings in Jamaica at 161-02, 160-08 and 160-16 Jamaica Avenue, two blocks from the E, J and Z trains’ stop at Jamaica Center/Parsons Boulevard. According to the New York Post, the structures will be connected and transformed into one four-story, 150,000 square feet commercial-retail building. Unfortunately, the 10-story building at No. 160-16 will be shortened to four stories, but No. 160-08 will retain its façade and expand by one story. Burlington Coat Factory is leasing 70,000 square feet on the upper floors, and opening is expected early in 2017. GreenbergFarrow is designing.

What a waste to destroy that 10 story building. Stupid stupid stupid
I use to live right down the block from there and always wondered: “Why doesn’t someone buy these buildings, it is prime retail space.” Glad to see something is finally taking shape, and a Burlington Coat Factory should fit right in that neighborhood. But it is a shame that they will be resizing that 10 story building.
I live in the jamaica area and I agree with you both. What they’ve done to the 10 story building is pure vandalism.
