City Orders Demolition Of Five Tenement Buildings At 485 Ninth Avenue, Midtown West

The city has order an emergency demolition for five severely dilapidating tenement buildings located at 485-491 and 497 9th Avenue, according to DNAinfo. Reportedly, the buildings are protected from demolition, but the property owner David Israeli removed portions of the buildings earlier this spring to speed up the process of a city demolition order. A new building could be built up to 120 feet tall, with no requirements for affordable housing. Plans for the site are unknown.
