Peter Poon Architects has designed nearly two dozen hotels across the city, and now another one of their glassy structures is coming to the area near Penn Station. Mayflower Business Group has filed new building applications for a 24-story hotel at 319 West 35th Street, between Eighth and Ninth avenues.
The 25o-foot-tall building would rise next to the 25-story Even Hotel, which was finished late last year and was also designed by Peter Poon. Mayflower’s hotel would hold 170 rooms and just 58,754 square feet of commercial space, for a typical room of 350 feet.
The plans call for a warming pantry, dining room, housekeeping offices, a breakroom, and an exercise room in the cellar levels, followed by a lobby with an upper mezzanine, and then six to eight rooms per floor, beginning on the second floor.
Mayflower, which is headed by Weihong Hu, picked up the development site for $28 million in May. The site has a pair of five-story, pre-war buildings, which hold a combination of 24 rental apartments and four commercial units, according to The Real Deal.
