Permits have been filed for a single-story gymnasium at P.S. 81 Jean Paul Richter, at 1716 Bleecker Street, in Ridgewood, Queens. The school sits right on the border of Brooklyn, overlooking the neighborhood of Bushwick, and is a third of a mile from the Seneca Avenue subway station, serviced by the M train.
The 22-foot tall structure will yield 5,750 feet, raising the school’s footprint to 72,750 square feet. The gymnasium will be accompanied with office space and storage.
The New York City School Construction Authority will be responsible for development. MD Szerbaty & Associates Architect will be responsible for the design.
An estimated completion date has not been announced.
