Demolition permits have been filed for 1622-1632 York Avenue in Yorkville, Manhattan. The plans include the demolition of six adjacent four-story buildings to make way for a fourteen-story assisted living facility at the corner of East 86th Street. The Engel Burman Group is responsible for the applications.
It was reported in August that Engel Burman Group acquired the six sites for $46.5 million. Estimated completion dates have not yet been announced.
Located just one block from Carl Schurz Park and Gracie Mansion, the assisted living facility is two avenues away from the 86th Street subway station, serviced by N and Q trains on the 2nd Avenue line.
Permits filed for the 170-foot tall structure include 132 residential units and 79,280 square feet allotted to community facility use. Overall square footage for the assisted living facility is 101,690 square feet and includes common spaces, offices, dining space, a beauty salon, a fitness room and a treatment center. Engel Burman Group is currently building Wellbridge, a $90 million drug treatment and research facility in East End, Long Island.
