The United Methodist Church and Bronx Pro Group have partnered to redevelop a long-vacant church property at 1080 Washington Avenue in Morrisania, The Bronx into a 100-percent affordable housing project. Designed by Curtis & Ginsberg Architects, the new 12-story, 114,000-square-foot building will eventually yield 154 units of senior housing, residential amenities, and 5,712 square feet of community facilities.

Renderings show that the building will be clad in a mixed-material façade comprised of brick, metal, and cementitious elements. As described by the architects, the brick transitions from dark gray at the lower levels to white at the top in an effort to “contextualize the massing” of the structure with the aesthetics of its surrounding structures. The building also incorporates a large setback on the sixth floor where future occupants will have access to a landscaped roof terrace.

A completion date has not been announced.

  1. Do you like people talking more than doing, or like people doing more than say? I think workers are responsible for their own duties. There must be patience and do more than say, until they meet the success. (Thanks to name of a reporter)

  2. Nice ombre hombre

  3. I live in this area. Not so safe for seniors…most likely disabled seniors. This is a foid desert area & takes a bit of an effort to get around beings how we’re in a dip & you have to walk uphill to get anywhere. Hopefully this monstrosity doesn’t block my sunlight. Watch out for the gun fire…stay in at night.
