Work is underway at 842 Sixth Avenue in NoMad, where the world’s tallest modular hotel will soon rise. Designed by Danny Forster & Architecture, the 26-story building will house the AC NoMad Hotel by Marriott International and will eclipse the Lower East Side’s citizenM New York Bowery Hotel for the record. Concord Hospitality is the developer of the 100,000-square-foot project, which will contain 168 guest rooms, terraces, and a rooftop bar.
An excavator is on site and is operating toward the back of the property.
The building’s modular components will be manufactured, packaged, and delivered from Poland. It will be interesting to see whether the building’s narrow plot will hamper the pace of construction, as there will be limited space for the delivery and staging of the sections.
Below are photos that show what the modular pieces will look like.
There are a number of nearby transit options including the R and W trains at the 28th Street-Broadway station and the PATH train at 33rd Street. Herald Square, Penn Station, the Manhattan Mall, and the Empire State Building are all less than ten minutes away on foot.
The anticipated completion of 842 Sixth Avenue is posted on the construction fence for spring 2020.
