Permits have been filed for a two-story greenmarket facility at 298 Halleck Street in Hunts Point, The Bronx. Located at the corner of Viele Avenue and Halleck Street, the nearest public transportation is the Longwood Avenue subway station, serviced by the 6 train. New York City Economic Development Corporation is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 51-foot-tall structure will yield 74,491 square feet for community facility space. The steel-based building will essentially be a refrigerated warehouse to aid GrowNYC with produce distribution from local farms, conveniently located near existing truck routes. This development will allow the organization to bring in 18 million pounds of fresh produce, eight times as much as it currently handles. Aside from being a Greenmarket Co. facility, the building will also be used for food processing, storage, and distribution by vendors.

BLD Architecture is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits have not been filed as of yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
