Permits Filed for 52-Story Skyscraper at 589 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn

A preliminary rendering of "Fulton Mall' spotted on RedSky Capital's website.

Permits have been filed for a 52-story mixed-use skyscraper at 589 Fulton Street in Brooklyn’s Downtown neighborhood. Bound by DeKalb Avenue to the north, Flatbush Avenue Extension diagonally to the east, Fulton Street to the south, and Bond Street to the west, the lot is steps from the DeKalb Avenue subway station, serviced by the B, Q, and R trains. Also within walking distance is the Nevins Street station, serviced by the 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains. RedSky Capital is reportedly the developer but Witkoff is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 575-foot-tall structure rise will yield 597,824 square feet, with 465,000 square feet designated for residential space and 37,356 square feet for ground-floor commercial space. The building will have 592 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 785 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also yield office space, a recreation and indoor sports facility, and cellar levels.

Beyer Blinder Belle is listed as the architect of record.

As reported by YIMBY, demolition has been ongoing for 547–589 Fulton Street. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

    The Brooklyn Boom continues.

  2. Anyone know if there are imminent plans to demo the 5ish story building taking up the entire block just down Flatbush from this, bounded by Livingston and Nevins? The Chase on that block is closing and it seems largely vacant, which makes me think a high rise is on the way.

    • is that the squat black building? If yes I don’t think so as it’s owned by Con Ed and I have trouble seeing a utility doing anything purposeful with their properties.

      • Yep. Good to know – I knew ConEd was there but I didn’t know that they owned it. thanks.

      • But the parking lot on the northwest corner of 14th and 3rd is so beautiful! (Though, the parking lot and their buildings are all one lot for zoning purposes and have no excess square footage allowed under the zoning. Still, requesting a variance and building something useful there would be nice.)

  3. I don’t know what the hold up
    for a 3 bedroom apartment…

    It’s time

  4. Build it!

  5. Trees on buildings are just so ugly.

  6. THE TREES WILL BE DEAD IN NO TIME
