Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 2905 West 17th Street in Coney Island, Brooklyn. Located between Mermaid and Surf Avenues, the interior lot is three blocks west of the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station, serviced by the F, N, and Q trains. George Rigas is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 80-foot-tall development will yield 666,664 square feet designated for residential with retail on the cellar level. The building will have 77 residences, however it unclear if units will be rentals or condos. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar, 45 open parking spots, and 45 enclosed parking spots.

Haris Mamagakis of Noesis Design & Architecture is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits will not be needed as the site is vacant. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

    Retail in the cellar? The whole thing should be on stilts for the next hurricane. Besides the way too big square footage for 77 apartments, this is a very curious project…
