SL Green has revealed the first images of Jōji, a hidden Omakase-style restaurant beneath supertall office tower One Vanderbilt in Midtown, Manhattan. The venue’s culinary program will be led by sushi master chef George Ruan and Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud.

Shinichiro Ogata, founder of Simplicity Design, oversaw interior design for the restaurant. Ogata’s minimalist sensibilities are present throughout Jōji, which will feature dark stonework, wood and brass accents, recessed lighting, gentle curves, and a Zen garden with trees and a water feature.

“In the last five years that I have been partnered with Marc Holliday and the SL Green team, the opportunity to create a sushi restaurant in One Vanderbilt became a reality,” said chef Boulud. “Jōji, a new sibling to Le Pavillon, will have the most unique and serene setting beneath One Vanderbilt.”

Jōji will open its doors on September 14. This follows the debut of Chef Boulud’s Le Pavillion, an 11,000-square-foot restaurant on the tower’s second floor and APRÈS Café & Bar from Union Square Events executive chef and James Beard laureate Patrick Connolly.

  1. When I hear the term “New Experience”, I…

  2. Another restaurant for the super rich to go. A hundred dollars for a small piece of uncooked fish.

  3. In the last photo I’m looking for Bert Cooper. In the second to last photo I’m looking for The Man From Another Place.
