8 Court Square’s Façade Takes Shape in Long Island City, Queens

8 Court Square, aka 27-10 44th Drive. Designed by Hill West Architects.

Façade installation is progressing on 8 Court Square, a 20-story residential building at 27-10 44th Drive in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by 25-34 Jackson Avenue Property Owner LLC, the 224-foot-tall structure will yield 157 units spread across 107,377 square feet and 10,170 square feet of retail space. Cauldwell Wingate Company is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Jackson Avenue to the northwest, 44th Drive to the northeast, and Thomson Avenue to the west and south.

Work has been remarkably swift since our last update in early March, when the reinforced concrete superstructure had recently begun to rise above street level. Since then, the structure has reached its pinnacle and construction has shifted to the installation of the brick and glass envelope, which now covers much of the main elevation.

Both the multi-story podium and upper portion of the edifice facing Thompson Avenue are fully clad in red brick with the exception of the ground-floor frontage and the indented eastern wall abutting 27-19 Thomson Avenue. King Contracting Group is in charge of laying the bricks that have been supplied by Belden Tristate Building Materials.

The sides facing 44th Drive and Jackson Avenue are a little further behind, but are catching up. A dark metallic paneling system will cover the edge of the building where the outdoor terraces are located, as well as the top two floors.

Available views for new development, look at design in a court of materials with brick and glass elevation. Spread its beautiful looked on the surface of the building, always showing in the same way on thickness of the edges: Thanks to Michael Young.
