Elijah Equities and JLL have revealed a pair of duplex penthouse office suites at 520 West 20th Street in Manhattan, following a major renovation and expansion of the former industrial building. Located on the western edge of Chelsea, the 100,000-square-foot property was transformed by Morris Adjmi Architects to suit gallery and enterprise commercial tenants.
The penthouse office spaces are both located in the glass-box addition perched atop the building. Spanning floors six and seven, each features designer finishes, restrooms outfitted in Italian marble, a communal pantry, and 15-foot ceiling spans.
Floors four and five will be blended to create a 24,000-square-foot duplex with a 7,000 square feet wraparound and partially covered terrace. The column-free fourth floor features original exposed brick and polished concrete floors while the fifth floor boasts floor-to-ceiling glass and a bright, open floor plan.
To enhance the tenant experience, the building features a 7,000-square-foot landscaped roof terrace with sweeping views of the High Line, the Hudson River waterfront, the Midtown skyline, and the surrounding West Chelsea neighborhood. The penthouse duplexes will have a dedicated connection to the communal roof terrace.
Corgan Architects was retained as interior designer for both duplex suites.
“As commercial tenants begin to welcome their employees back to the office, we are fortunate to be able to offer a best-in-class product combined with an unmatched level of dedicated outdoor space—precisely what is most sought after in today’s post-pandemic working environment,” said Hiram Haddad, principal of Elijah Equities, owner and developer for 520 West 20th Street.
David Zwirner Gallery recently leased 36,000 square feet across the entire second and third floors for ten years as part of a strategic expansion of the company. Selldorf Architects designed Zwirner’s new offices, which will serve as headquarters for the business. Additional gallerist and dealer tenants include Los Angeles-based dealer David Kordansky, and Kurimanzutto, one of Mexico’s leading contemporary art galleries.
The JLL leasing team is the dedicated agent for remaining available space at the building.
