Permits have been filed for a five-story residential building at 71-63 161st Street in Pomonok, Queens. Located between 71st and 72nd Avenues, the lot is closest to the Parsons Boulevard subway station, serviced by the E and F trains. Rong Chen under the WTR 528 Home LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 49-foot-tall development will yield 9,114 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 12 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 759 square feet. The masonry-based structure will also have a cellar and six open parking spaces.
Thomas C. Tung is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits were filed in October for the 1.5-story building on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

There goes the rest of the neighborhood. Look at that crap on either side. It’s like a third world scene.
It’s a shame the only building in this photo with any character is being sacrificed, and probably being replaced with similar “back of a utility bill envelope developer architecture”?! 🤫
How do these “future crackhouse apartments” get approved by the permits department, without money passed under the table at the local coffee shop, late at night?! 🤣
Ive always wondered if this Queens Crap style of concrete front yard/stainless steel awning/vomit brick/palladian door style of “architecture” is what people are asking for or the only thing the “architect” knows how to do.
