Construction is finishing up on the 20-story Marriott SpringHill hotel at 223 West 46th Street in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by McSam Hotel Group, the 70,000-square-foot structure will yield 200 guest rooms. Zhong Wang Construction Services is the general contractor for the project, which is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues.

The warm-hued brick façade has finished enclosing the tower since our last update in January 2022, and all that remains to be finished is the ground floor, which remains covered in sidewalk scaffolding. The construction elevator and all upper scaffolding have been dismantled, and the entire window grid is in place.

223 West 46th Street will soon join the crop of new hotels to recently complete construction in the heart of Times Square. The property is located in close proximity to the 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal station on Eighth Avenue and the Times Square-42nd Street station on Seventh Avenue, offering combined access to the 1, 2, 3, 7, A, C, E, N, Q, R, W, and Shuttle trains.

YIMBY estimates 223 West 46th Street will be finished by the spring or early summer.

  1. My eyes… my eyes!!!

What a shame such a great city tolerates codes that necessitate and produce garbage like this.

  2. Not sure why they didn’t build it 20-30 floors taller in that area.

  3. OMG… another “setback” for Manhattan! Maybe it’s scared that it’s neighboring Scientology building will cast a spell? 🤣

The funniest thing is, it took an
“Arkytech” to “design” this generic beige box?! 🤣😂🤣

  4. 15 photographs? That is at least 12 more than this project deserves.

  5. They should have gone taller in that location. But what a boring looking building and to be next to that giant SCIENTOLOLGY sign – it just adds to the dreadfulness of the project.

  6. Gene Kaufman has done more to mar Midtown than any other human being.

  7. What an ugly building.

  8. Oh great a convenient place to stay next time I get e-metered.

  9. Scientology on one side, “Book of Mormon” on the other! ‘Merica! 🇺🇸

  10. Gene Kaufman and the the MCSam hotel group have destroyed more neighborhoods in this city than any other developers.
They should be barred from building anything else in this city.
