HOK has revealed a rendering for its renovation of the Hamilton and Amabel James Center for Artificial Intelligence and Human Health at 3 East 101st Street in East Harlem, Manhattan. The new research facility will occupy all 12 stories of a former nursing residence constructed in 1964.

The goal of the project is to enable staff and faculty from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to advance AI and transform healthcare, and will also host staff from the Genomic Health and Emergency Departments. Facilities will include dry labs, a mix of open work spaces and private offices, and dry research labs.

The existing building will receive new windows, an entryway modeled after a front porch, and a fully renovated lobby with a video wall and a coffee bar. There will also be an amenity space on the 12th floor with a flexible event space for conferences and casual gatherings.

The Hamilton and Amabel James Center for Artificial Intelligence and Human Health is expected to open by the end of this year.
