Construction is wrapping up on Six Garfield, a 12-story condominium building at 6 Garfield Place in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Designed by DXA Studio and developed by New Empire Real Estate, the structure will yield 33 units in one- to four-bedroom layouts, as well as a suite of amenities. The Aguayo Team at Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing is leading sales and marketing and New Empire Building is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Garfield Place.
Recent photos show the final look of the main building and its prominent cantilevering volumes that extend north over a low-rise annex to the property, which remains shrouded in black netting and scaffolding. The structure is clad in light gray brick surrounding an irregular grid of floor-to-ceiling windows, and features numerous stepped setbacks and protruding balconies.
The rendering below depicts the modifications to the existing structure at the corner of the plot. The red brick façade will be replaced with a lime-wash masonry envelope that matches the exterior of the new construction, its fenestration will be updated with modern floor-to-ceiling windows, and an additional penthouse level with a glass curtain wall and roof terrace will be constructed atop its parapet.
The following Google Street View images detail the conditions of the property before work began.
Units at Six Garfield will have ceiling spans of over nine feet and come appointed with wide white oak flooring, front-load washers and heat pump dryers, oversized European-style tilt and turn windows with low-e coated triple glazing for enhanced sound isolation, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, and prewired Verizon Fios. Select homes will come with private outdoor space.
Amenities include a 24-hour attended lobby with a part-time doorman and virtual service; super, porter, and handyman services; a fitness center with a skylight; a children’s playroom; a skylit atrium and library lounge; an indoor-outdoor residential lounge with a park pantry; a landscaped roof deck with outdoor dining and grilling stations; full wifi coverage in all amenity spaces; a stroller room; dedicated mail and secure package rooms; a pet spa; a laundry room; and private storage available for purchase.
The closest subway from the property is the R train at the Union Street station to the north along Fourth Avenue.
Six Garfield’s anticipated completion date is slated for this winter, as noted on site.

This should be pretty good-looking.
It’s great the existing historic building on the corner wasn’t torn down, however, the way it has been completely changed is sad and unnecessary.
