Foundations Underway at 205 Java Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Excavation and foundations are progressing at 205 Java Street, the site of a seven-story residential building in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by Melamed Architect PC and developed by 205 Java St. LLC, which purchased the 7,500-square-foot property for $2.625 million, the structure will replace a two-story home and yield an undisclosed number of units. HP Builders NYC LLC is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Java Street and McGuinness Boulevard.

Recent photographs show crews beginning to form the reinforced concrete foundations around the rear northern end of the rectangular lot. Steel rebar can be seen protruding from the partially formed perimeter walls while an excavator continues to dig up the 25-foot-wide parcel southward toward Java Street.

The main rendering shows the building clad in light-colored bricks with a stack of floor-to-ceiling windows spanning floors one through five, each lined with dark mullions. The building sets back at the sixth story, leading to double-height windows indicating a potential duplex unit that will come with private terrace space. An additional terrace lined with metal railings is positioned on the flat parapet beside a gray mechanical bulkhead.

The nearest subway is the G train at the Greenpoint Avenue station to the southwest at the intersection of Greenpoint and Manhattan Avenues.

205 Java Street’s anticipated completion date is slated for April 15, 2025, as noted on site.
