Work Steadily Moves Along At 175 Huron Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Construction is steadily progressing at 175 Huron Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by Anthony Cucich Architect  and developed by Polaris Investment One LLC, the ground-up five-story structure will yield a total of three residential units. NY Proconstruction Inc. is listed as the general contractor for the property, which is situated on an interior lot between Manhattan Avenue to the west and McGuinness Boulevard to the east.

Since then, the entire superstructure was erected and crews are shifting their focus on enclosing front of the building. Metal frame studs have already been installed above the ground floor with crews working on metal scaffolding over the sidewalk shed. We can also see the final appearance of the window-less western lot line wall. The windows and rest of the envelope should soon go up in the coming weeks and months.

Below is what the site looked like at the beginning of the year.

Only one rendering was spotted on site and depicts the five-story project with what looks to be a uniform brick facade with a series of horizontal troughs dividing the masonry walls. The main entrance is located at the southwestern corner. Floors two through four feature large floor-to-ceiling windows, while two balconies lined with dark metal railings are only visible on levels three and four. The fifth story is set back from the street and is capped with a flat roof parapet that will likely be home to an outdoor terrace space. Small light fixtures are mounted and scattered across the main southern elevation.

The nearest subway stations from the site include the Greenpoint Avenue stop to the south, servicing the local G train, and the Vernon Boulevard – Jackson Avenue station across Newtown Creek in Hunters Point, Queens, servicing the local 7 train into Midtown, Manhattan.

175 Huron Street’s anticipated completion date is slated for this summer as noted on site, though YIMBY expects the revised date to be sometime near the end of the year.
