Affordable Housing Lottery Launches for Virginia House Senior Residences in East Harlem, Manhattan

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Virginia House Senior Residences, a seven-story mixed-use building at 124 East 112th Street in East Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by PM Architecture and developed by Acacia Network, the structure yields 57 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 33 units for residents at 50 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $72,000 to $167,570.

Amenities include an on-site laundry, 24-hour building superintendent, shared bike storage, community room, social services office, and a common courtyard. The building contains an accessible entrance, an elevator, and is smoke-free. Tenants pay for electricity. Heat, hot water, and gas for cooking are included with the rent.

At 50 percent of the AMI, there are 32 studios with a monthly rent of $0 for incomes ranging from $0 to $56,500, and one one-bedroom with a monthly rent of $0 for incomes ranging from $0 to $63,550.

Households must meet the minimum age requirement of 62 years of age at the time of application submission and must qualify for Section 8 where the applicant will pay 30 percent of their income toward the monthly rent. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than October 19, 2023.

  2. Can I receive application via email?

    • No you can only apply online or by mail. You can go to NYC Housing Connect 2 and register or get the address to send in for an application.

    • You have to register at NYC Housing Connect 2. After putting in all your information then you will be able to apply. Good luck.

    • They will not send you an application. You will have to go to NYC Housing Connect and register, then you can apply or get the address to have them send you an application by mail.

  9. I send a self address envelope requesting for a application they never sent me the application I’m 65yr old

  10. Send out a request for an application never received my application for the senior building
