Construction is rising on 134 Vanderbilt Avenue, an eight-story mixed-use building in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Designed by executive architect Kane AUD and design architect SO-IL and developed by Tankhouse, the 85-foot-tall structure will span 89,847 square feet and yield 26 condominiums with an average scope of 1,269 square feet, as well as 3,159 square feet of commercial space, two cellar levels, a 30-foot-long rear yard, and 18 enclosed parking spaces. KSK Construction Group, LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Vanderbilt and Myrtle Avenues.
Recent photographs show the reinforced concrete superstructure standing two stories high on the formerly vacant lot. Rebar protrudes at the locations of the forthcoming columns for the third story, and a network of metal shoring and wooden formwork is supporting the completed levels as they settle.
The rendering in the main photo shows the updated design for the building, which features a distinctive massing with numerous setbacks topped with landscaping, pocketed terraces, and angled cantilevering sections. The façade is composed of a light earth-toned cementitious material.
The below photos of the building model from Tankhouse’s website shows a landscaped rear courtyard and green roofs on the two parapets.

The nearest subway from the property is the G train at the Clinton-Washington Avenue station to the south along Lafayette Avenue.
134 Vanderbilt Avenue’s anticipated completion date is slated for the fall of 2023, as noted on site. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing Group will be in charge of sales and marketing for the condominiums.

I want to see how this turns out, but the redesign is a definite improvement.
Thank god it’s not that sterile stack of glass boxes. Wonder if it’ll be pink granite blocks…
