Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 2611 Pitkin Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. Located between Logan Street and Fountain Avenue, the lot is three blocks from the Euclid Avenue subway station, serviced by the A and C trains. Housing Works is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 89-foot-tall development will yield 24,710 square feet, with 24,200 square feet designated for residential space and 510 square feet for commercial space. The building will have 42 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 576 square feet. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar and a 21-foot-long rear yard.
Benjamin Kracauer of Archimuse is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits were filed in July 2023 for the two-story structure on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

I know this block very well, and having a new 9-story building on this block of low-rise two-story buildings will completely ruin the architectural tapestry of the block. Housing Works, a non-profit, which is now in the business of selling weed, despite running rehab programs as well, is the developer, which adds to the irony.
