Permits have been filed for a five-story residential building at 222 16th Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, the lot is near the Prospect Avenue subway station, serviced by the R train. Shia Unsdorfer is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 50-foot-tall development will yield 35,195 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 32 residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,099 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a rooftop terrace on the fifth floor, a 15-foot-long rear yard, and 45 open parking spaces.
Oleg Ruditser of Engineering Professional Service is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits have not been filed yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

The owner is probably going to rent the other spaces out to the neighborhood Yeshiva.
This architect is about as unusual choice for an upscale Park Slope project as you could imagine… So we’ll see…
Some very old buildings here. #218-222 are easily among the oldest homes in the neighborhood and probably looked quite different when this alleyway was a road. They have been mongrelized with cheap siding and thoughtless landscaping, unfortunately.
That is a fascinating application of the word mongrelized.
