Broadview at Purchase College, a retirement community located at 100 Broadview Avenue in Purchase, Westchester County, celebrated its grand opening this week. The community, which is situated on the grounds of the State University of New York’s Westchester Campus, features 174 senior residential apartments and 46 single-family homes, and caters to a wide range of resident needs while also addressing affordability through designated income-based residences.

Broadview at Purchase College was originally proposed in 2003 and officially began development in 2011 after New York State Legislation was signed that allowed Purchase College to lease the land needed for the project. Today, it is a sprawling campus that spans 40 acres and offers services including independent living, assisted living, enhanced assisted living, and memory care.

Residents of the retirement community benefit from total integration with Purchase College. From the Neuberger Museum of Art to mentorship initiatives in various fields like pre-medicine and media studies, residents and students are able to engage in meaningful collaborations and social activities.

“I am so excited to celebrate Broadview’s grand opening at SUNY Purchase,” said New York State Senator Shelley Mayer. “This is a path-breaking approach to multi-generational learning, maximization of public university resources for wider participation, and new housing opportunities for active seniors. I always had faith that this innovative approach would be a success, but I am overwhelmed by the energy and enthusiasm of all the parties involved in this project. I applaud the SUNY system, the legislators who authorized this development, the developers of the innovative and beautiful housing, and the leadership of Purchase College, including of course President Milly Peña for this terrific accomplishment.”

  1. This is not in New Rochelle.

Is Max Gillespie a real person or a poorly trained AI bot?

  2. But there is a 100 Broadview Avenue in New Rochelle near Iona University so the AI bot was sort of correct! Yesterday the AI bot made up an imaginary address for a new housing development in New Rochelle so the confusion should be understandable!

My father was also an active elderly man, but he wouldn’t move anywhere besides the house he built: Thanks.

  3. SUNY Purchase is definitely in Purchase NY. Close to the Connecticut border. Not in New Rochelle
