Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 213 East 83rd Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Located between Second and Third Avenues, the lot is near the 86th Street subway station, serviced by the Q train. Robert Saffayeh under the 213 Yorkville LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 75-foot-tall development will yield 27,309 square feet, with 23,271 square feet designated for residential space and 4,038 square feet for community facility space. The building will have nine residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,004 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar, four enclosed parking spaces, and a 30-foot-long rear yard.
DOME Architecture, Design & Engineering is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits were filed earlier this month for the four-story residential building on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Please tell me this church isn’t being demolished…
The church was closed in 2017 – that is the church’s address. Sad – used to walk by all the time when I lived in Yorkville.
Good grief, what callous destruction! Something a comic book supervillain would do in his free time.
Why not repurpose the church into units? Hopefully they at least maintain the facade. It’s been done before

There is definitely no curb cut driveway here. How was onsite parking approved?!
There’s no reason the facade can’t be retained, but city “leaders” are busy being indicted.
The destruction of classic New York continues unabated, to the same tired old cries of “there’s plenty of these buildings not to worry”.
Maybe there are, and then suddenly one day there won’t be.
