The affordable housing lottery has launched for Amara, a six-story mixed-use building at 31-90 29th Street in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Fogarty Finger Architects and developed by George Tsilogiannis of BQ 29, LLC, the structure yields 92 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 28 units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $78,000 to $218,010.
Amenities include pet-friendly policies, a dog washing station, a garage with assigned parking spaces and electric vehicle charging stations, bike storage lockers, common area Wi-Fi, recreation room, storage, and rooftop terrace. Units come equipped with washers and dryers, air conditioning, dishwashers, intercoms, patios or balconies, and name-brand kitchen appliances, countertops, and finishes. Tenants are responsible for electricity.
At 130 percent of the AMI, there are five studios with a monthly rent of $2,275 for incomes ranging from $78,000 to $161,590; 16 one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $2,650 for incomes ranging from $90,858 to $181,740; and seven two-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $3,700 for incomes ranging from $126,858 to $218,010.
Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than November 27, 2024.
