Henrybuilt, a design company specializing in bespoke kitchens and custom home solutions, recently signed a lease for the entire historic Stable Building at 16 Main Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn. The property, which was originally constructed in 1906 and renovated by Two Trees Management in 2015, stands two stories tall and spans 7,898 square feet. It will be used to showcase Henrybuilt’s integrated design approach.
16 Main Street was originally built as a stable house for Robert Gair, the inventor of the cardboard box. It is one of the first buildings in New York City that utilized a reinforced poured-concrete method for its construction.
Henrybuilt plans to occupy the building’s top floor, with a move-in anticipated in Q2 2025. Space Theory, the organization’s sister company, is expected to open on the ground floor in late Q1 of 2025.
“We’ve called Soho home for nearly 20 years and plan to keep a presence in Manhattan in the long term, but DUMBO’s creative energy, and the Stable Building in particular, provide us with a unique opportunity to headquarter both Henrybuilt and our young sister company, Space Theory, on two floors of a single amazing building,” said Scott Hudson, CEO of Henrybuilt. “DUMBO is one of the most dynamic and beautiful neighborhoods in New York City, and we’re excited to be part of this vibrant community.”

So are they kicking out the art galleries?
I’m sure they wouldn’t have kicked out the art galleries had they been doing well.
Wow, Robert Gair, “The inventor of the cardboard box”.. Yes, seemingly simple things like a cardboard box just didn’t appear, they had to be ‘invented’ !
super boring
This ‘converted’ stable is 10× more interesting than 99% of the buildings going up in NYC now.
