Permits have been filed for a five-story high school building at 445 Ovington Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Located between 4th and 5th Avenues, the lot is near the Bay Ridge Avenue subway station, served by the R train. NYC School Construction Authority is listed as the owner and the architect behind the applications.

The proposed 94-foot-tall development will yield 35,373 square feet designated for community facility space. The building components include a cafeteria, auditorium, indoor sport and is projected to have 676 seats. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 30-foot-long rear yard.

Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the lot is vacant. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. This should not be a high school or anything else. It should stay as a senior home and parking garage. The community does not want a high school there. Especially for the element of people there

    • I can only imagine what you mean by “element of people there,” but you def don’t speak for everyone in this community. We need more public high schools in Bay Ridge.

  2. @LBB go walk around Ovington ave, 5th ave and Bay Ridge ave and you tell me what element of people are around. Bay Ridge is not what it was. 30 years ago. I demand an answer.

    • It’s that phrase—“element of people”—why don’t you stop beating around the bush and say what you really mean? And, yes, I Googled the demographics and I know exactly what you mean, you petty little racist coward. Good luck with the future.

  3. Horrible place for a school infact cb10 disapproved the location. Justin brannan just went ahead anyway- this is how he makes his money from pay to play real
Estate kick backs. He should be indicted. He’s a criminal and ruining bay ridge- build the school somewhere else or in another neighborhood. Justin brannan and his developer buddies have ruined bay ridge

  4. @borodoug. Seems to me that you don’t understand what these Muslims in Bay Ridge now Beiruit are about. The protest for nonsense and want to set up something similar to what they have in the middle east. Not acceptable. You are the coward. Not me. I state facts. You state nonsense.

I wonder how many prodigy of ILLEGAL ALIEN INVADERSC are nestled in these pop-up mushroom schools. The SCA,The Board of Education, councilman Branaan and his contributing developers are ALL SO BEYOND CORRUPT.Why build one more NYC school. The socially-promoted students come out dumber than the enter and end up, overwhelmingly,as barely functional illiterat dependency votebots.

  6. There is no need for another school in this area period. School on 4th. & Ovington and school in the building behind the church bldg. The congestion in this area will be tremendous and the neighborhood will be forever has a nd will be changed.
