Construction is nearing completion on Society Brooklyn and Sackett Place, a pair of 21-story residential buildings at 267 Bond Street and 498 Sackett Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Property Markets Group, the 225-foot-tall structures span 605,000 square feet and will yield 517 residential units, as well as 52,000 square feet of commercial space. Twenty-five percent of the apartments will be reserved for affordable housing. Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by DeGraw Street to the north, Sackett Street to the south, the Gowanus Canal to the east, and Bond Street to the west.
Nearly all remaining sections of both buildings’ exteriors have been filled in since our last update in April, when construction hoists remained attached to both towers and their top floors remained exposed. Exterior work has since concluded on the towers and most of the multi-story podiums, which are now topped with landscaped terraces. Construction is also rapidly progressing on the waterfront esplanade along the Gowanus Canal, which was just getting underway at the time of our last update. Recent photographs show nearly all the landscaping, wooden tables, light fixtures, metal railings, and staircases in place along the eastern side of the development.
Society Brooklyn at 267 Bond Street will span 371,000 square feet and yield 344 residential units as well as 32,000 square feet of commercial space on the northernmost side of the master plan. One-fourth of the homes will be designated for affordable housing. Sackett Place at 498 Sackett Street will span 234,000 square feet with 173 units and approximately 20,000 square feet of commercial space.
Residential amenities will include a lobby restaurant and bar, a fitness center, a coworking lab, and a pool deck stop the podium.
Property Markets Group acquired both plots for $9 million in 2021 and is completing construction with the help of $18.5 million in construction financing from Maxim Capital Group.
The nearest subway is the local R train at the Union Street station to the east along 4th Avenue.
Society Brooklyn and Sackett Place should likely finish construction sometime this spring.

The underside of all those balconies really makes a stunningly beautiful project.
The base isn’t too bad, but those two towers are very anonymous when compared to some of the other proposals in the area.
Those logs that were processed I hope there are no thorns, and the balcony tries to maintain its privacy well: Thanks to Michael Young.
I’m really happy with their choice of materials for the base units. They feel high quality and so the street-level experience of the building is great. The only nice thing I can say about the towers (especially the northern one without balconies) is that at least it blends into the sky, so you don’t notice it too much unless you look up. From a far they’re very uninspiring though.
Excited for shops to move in and see what comes of this area!
Beautiful brick work on the lower floors
Nice stone base below the brick done in Dietfurt limestone grey, honed from Franken Schotter in Germany.
